Richard Rohr in his book, The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage, describes the path of the prophetic tradition by bringing into conversation the inspired, and sometime eccentric, prophets of the Hebrew Bible with the contemporary voices of people who have embodied this path in the world today. Rohr plots this path as one that moves from “righteous anger against injustice, grief for the world’s suffering, and finally, grace-filled love for everyone and everything.” Over the next nine weeks we will be inspired and challenged by biblical voices like Isaiah and Micah alongside courageous contemporary activists like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dorothy Day.
Although not everyone is called to be a prophet, we are all able to engage the prophetic tradition and embody that tradition in our own context. We invite you to take time during this worship series to find your place on this prophetic path and discern how God is calling you to live out this tradition at The Table and in our community.
