I Wonder..

Wonder is a rich and faithful approach to scripture at any age. In this series we will borrow the posture/stance of wonder from our Godly Play children’s ministry, along with the wondering questions from Godly Play, to invite adults to consider wonder as a centerpiece for their own relationship to scripture. How do we wonder about each scripture/story? What are the practices of wonder? What are the particular questions we have about each narrative? How does wonder nurture our faith? (Note: while the noun wonder, akin to awe, is also a fabulous element of faith and spirituality, here our focus is on the verb wonder – to feel curiosity, to question, to speculate, inquire, investigate, explore…)

This series invites movement away from “answers” or “correct interpretations,” moving instead toward openness, curiosity, questions, and noticing how a scripture speaks to me, my life, my world in a given moment.

Pastor Kelly Love

God was with the people as they “went out” from slavery into freedom through the water. The People of God have looked back to this time to sustain them when God is hidden and they feel lost. We continue to evoke the People’s experiences of God’s elusive presence. This not only gives children [everyone] language to name, express, and value their own experiences but also permission to talk aloud about them.
