Worship this Sunday will invite us to reflect upon the relationship of worship to mission through the image of the möbius strip. We often think of worship as separate from mission. This week’s worship will offer an alternative to this thinking.
Outline for Missio Dei
- May 18: Worship & The Mission of God (Acts 17.22-31)
- May 25: Meaning & Purpose of Worship (Acts 17.22-31)
- June 1: Understanding the Parts of Worship (Acts 17.22-31)
- June 8: Pentecost Celebration. Worship as Hospitality & Hope. (Acts 2.1-21)
We would like you to share a visual image of a möbius strip with you as we continue our worship series, Missio Dei, this week. Here is a link to learn a little more about the möbius strip . We realize this week will be more “crafty” than we ever are on the blog but we hope this hands-on activity will help some of us to think more deeply about the relationship between worship and mission. Please follow the directions of how to create your own möbius strip .
Read Acts 17.22-31.
Take your möbius strip and write Mission on one side and Worship on the other side. Here is a link for simple instructions.
Try the following:
“Touch your finger to the side with the word “Worship” on your möbius and follow the circle all the way around until you reach “Mission.” Worship leads us to mission and mission leads us to worship. Or, we move from missional worship to worshipful mission and continue along the way as we root our lives in Grace, grow in faith, and reach in love.”
How does this image resonate with your own understanding of worship and mission?
