Fall 2023: Developing Ways forward

Representatives from Trustees, Personnel, and Finance for Davis UMC & The Table UMC will gather this fall to begin exploring possible administrative models for collaboration and begin clarifying the opportunities and challenges we face.

Orientation to Growing in Faith for Davis UMC

Co-Pastors Linda & Matt led an orientation to Growing in Faith specifically designed for persons from Davis UMC from 5pm-7pm on Sunday, September 24. Around 40 people participated.

Summer 2023: connecting Administrative Boards

Representatives from Trustees, Personnel, and Finance for Davis UMC & The Table UMC met earlier this summer at The Table UMC and will be meeting again at Davis UMC early in September. The purpose of these gatherings is for the administrative leaders from each church to share perspectives on the reality, hopes and challenges they face in relationship to property, staffing, and finances. We hope these initial gatherings will provide a framework for the representatives from both churches to then begin exploring possible administrative models for collaboration and begin clarifying both opportunities and challenges.

1 on 1 Appointments in May – June

Co-Pastors Linda & Matt were able to meet individually with 17 members from Davis UMC for ~30 minute conversations in May and June. We hope these conversations will allow us to continue learning from those who have found a church home at Davis UMC as we continue reflecting on next steps for ministry possibilities.

May 12, 2023: Update from our co-pastors:

April 16 – April 23: Listening Sessions with Davis UMC:

Co-Pastors Linda & Matt offered 7 different Listening Sessions across 8 days at Davis UMC in the Walker Room from April 16 – April 23. Each Listening Session was just over an hour in length and a total of 28 people participated (groups ranged in size from 3 to 7 people). We opened each Listening Session by sharing brief introductions, reflecting briefly on The Table UMC’s story, and then devoting most of the time to listening as historic members of Davis UMC shared responses to questions like:

  1. What initially drew you to Davis UMC?
  2. What do you most love about Davis UMC?
  3. What, if anything, do you find most challenging right now at Davis UMC?
  4. When have you noticed or experienced the Spirit most alive and stirring at Davis UMC during your time here especially these last years of global pandemic)?
  5. Where and how are you feeling the Spirit of God calling you in your own journey at this time?
