Our worship series, Reaching in Love, ended on Sunday with a powerful message on the parable of the treasure in the field. The podcast should be up on the website later today.
God of Healing and Hope, We pray for the families who lost loved ones in Norway. May your tears wash over those who grieve. Hold them in your love and enfold them in your healing. We pray for those in our own community who have experienced hurt and injury, those who have been hospitalized.
We pray as well for those who travel, those preparing to move, and those still amidst boxes in the days after a move. May you surprise us in times of transition with glimpses of home.
We give thanks for the ministry of Sara Zeigler at Central UMC and in the wider United Methodist Church. As she moves toward retirement, may your Spirit embolden her for even further witness in the world.
We celebrate the young people who will be arriving today in Sacramento to reach in love toward our community by painting and working on our facility. May their travels be safe and may their time be transforming. May your Spirit move freely as thousands of youth & volunteers gather later this week in Sacramento for the United Methodist Conference called Youth 2011. The future of your church is alive today…may your Spirit call us more faithfully into being.
We offer these words and our whole lives in the Grace and peace of Jesus Christ. Amen.
For what else do the people of God pray this week?
