Showtime

TIme to choose your role, the curtain is about to go up.

We are approaching the final moments of Casting Christmas at The Table.  We began with John the Baptist as our Call Boy, agreed that Mary was The Lead and examined how Joseph provided the right method to be her supportive partner.  Last week the Extras entered the stage as we considered the shepherds and angels, God’s messengers in the Christmas drama.  If you would like a review, listen here.

So, the question is; have you chosen the role you would like to play this year?  Are you ready to share God’s message of Hope?  God gives us so many ways to be part of the drama.  How will you tell the Christmas Story?  Do you know your lines?  Are you ready?

Here is a prayer to help you in these final moments…but you don’t want to miss your moment so decide soon.  It’s almost Showtime!

“Lord, give us the grace to be counted among your “little flock.”  You often said to your disciples, “Be not afraid.”  May your message sink into our hearts and offer us merciful consolation and joyful assurance of your unending care and concern.  Amen.”

Throughout this advent series, I’ve been trying to find my place in the Christmas story. As a child, I was the sheep. I was ALWAYS the sheep, maybe because I was the pastor’s daughter and the only one who would wear that costume without too much complaint. Anyways, it occurred to me this morning that in my life, I’ve always played the sheep. I’ve been follower, a passive participant in my own life. I’m done with that now, so this season, it’s time for me to take the lead role in my own life. I don’t know yet how I’ll share the message of hope and love this season, but then again, Mary didn’t know all that she was signing up for when she took on her role, she simply said “Here I am.”
