Reaching in love

“If the body is truly the dwelling place of God, a holy ground, then all our relationship are transformed.  When we meet and touch others, we do so with even more respect as we realize their life is holy.”

~from Essential Writings by Jean Vanier

Watching over each other in love requires us to learn the stories of our neighbors.  In our community we do this by joining and attending a Kitchen Table.  Every week people gather in homes, coffee houses and bars to ask how is it with your soul?

The Center

Could it be that my aching for the anguish of the world
Is the feeling of my heart being enlarged?
Could it be that my willingness to ache
for my suffering neighbor
Is my purest assent to God’s perfect intent?

~from Rhythm & Fire by Robert Carr

How does your heart ache for your neighbor?  What might you do about that this week?  In our community we call this reaching in love.  Consider turning your heart ache into an action of love this week.
