Toward Sunday

We continue our worship series this Sunday called How Deep?  Our church continues to grow in number and depth because of the deep commitments of so many.  Each fall we devote an entire worship series to reflecting on the depth of the commitment we would like to make to God & our church for the coming year.  We will focus each of the first three weeks on the simple (artisan) ingredients that frame our life together: rooted in Grace, growing in faith, and reaching in love. We will celebrate Baptism on October 26 and then we will renew our baptismal vows and make our deep commitments to God and one another on Sunday, November 2. Between now and then, please prayerfully consider how you would like to deepen your commitment to our community of faith in the coming year.

How Deep?

Oct 5 rooted in Grace (Matthew 14.22-33)
Oct 12 growing in faith (Matthew 14.22-33)
Oct 19 reaching in love (Matthew 14.22-33)
Oct 26 Celebration of Baptism (Matthew 22.34-40)
Nov 2 Deep Commitment Sunday (Matthew 23.1-12)

We long to grow in faith at The Table.  We do so through Kitchen Tables, by searching Scripture, by giving generously, by witnessing to God’s love in the world, etc. How have you done over the last year in terms of growing in faith. If you attend a Kitchen Table or Accountability Group (for those readers who are outside of our area) how has your commitment to watching over others in love grown your faith?

Read Matthew 14.22-33 Notice how the disciples grow in their awareness of Jesus through this short story.  Notice how Jesus relates to them.

How do you hope to grow in faith in the coming year? Consider setting a specific goal, or set of goals, regarding Kitchen Table participation, searching scripture, giving more generously, witnessing to God’s love in the world, etc.  Share your goals with someone you trust to hold you accountable.
