We look forward to gathering for Candlelight Christmas Eve worship services this week at 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm. All are welcome.
While most of the world will finish with Christmas on Thursday, we celebrate Christmas as a season lasting twelve days. We’ll gather for worship on the first Sunday in Christmas on December 28, 2014. This will be our final worship gathering in 2014. Take some time this week to reflect on the last year. For what are you most grateful? What blessings have surprised you?
Our worship will be rooted in Luke 2.2-40. In this story, Mary and Joseph travel with the baby Jesus to the temple. It is not a high priest, but two lay people who welcome them and offer hospitality. Simeon saw salvation in the eyes of the young Jesus and this led Simeon to bless them all. Anna praised God and began to witness to others about the child.
Think of a time in which an elder in your life saw you and blessed you. The blessing may not have been formal like the one recorded in Luke 2. It may have been a simple recognition or an affirmation. What was the experience like for you?
Similarly, what new things are happening around you that you might bless in the coming year?
Beginning Sunday we will offer radical hospitality to around 120 unhoused guests through Winter Sanctuary. Here is a link to the schedule. You may sign-up to reach in love there. We look forward to this beautiful time of love and hospitality.
