Toward Sunday

We will gather at 6:00 pm on Maundy Thursday in the Social Hall. We we’ll break bread together and reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ commandment to love one another as he loved us.  All are welcome for this intergenerational worship.

Then, we’ll gather at 7:00 pm on Holy Friday in the Sanctuary for a solemn remembrance of the crucifixion of Jesus. (more appropriate for adults.)

We’ll gather at 6:30 am in the Rose Garden of McKinley Park for Easter Sunrise.

Finally, we’ll Celebrate Easter in the Sanctuary at both 9:30 am & 11:00 am on Easter morning.

Our Easter morning worship gatherings will be rooted in Luke 24.1-12 and we encourage you to take time to read it this week.

David Lose writes, “Resurrection, in other words, throws off the balance, upsets the apple cart, and generally turns our neat and orderly lives totally out of whack. Which is why I think that if you don’t find resurrection at least a little hard to believe, you probably aren’t taking it very seriously! And, truth be told, I suspect that’s where most of us – we’ve heard the story of resurrection so often it hardly makes us blink, let alone shake with wonder and surprise. Which is rather sad, when you think about it, because this promise, as difficult as it may be to believe initially, is huge, and when it sinks in and lays hold of you, absolutely everything looks a little different.”

Think about times when you have found resurrection at least a little hard to believe.  Similarly, when has the promise of resurrection laid hold of you and how did things look differently?
