Baptism & Deep Commitments
Scripture: 2 Timothy 4.6-8, 16-18
At Jesus’ baptism a voice comes from heaven saying, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.” While Jesus’ relation to God as Son is unique, for Christians baptism means that God has also chosen us as children and knows us intimately as a parent.
Reflect upon the last week as you ponder these questions: Over the last week, when have you experienced feeling like a beloved child of God? When have you questioned your own belovedness?
Read 2 Timothy 4.6-8, 16-18. Paul closes this letter to Timothy by remembering God’s steadfast love and celebrating having “fought the good fight…finished the race…kept the faith.”
What will it look like for you to fight the good fight, finish the race, keep the faith?
