Prayer Poem from UMC Worship Director
Relief, release, for ten years awaited by all whose lives ceased in planes and towers, or battlefields, caves or roadways far from home in these succeeding years: The dead must have their voice. So, too, the living, those whose mourning could not reach full closure until this news: Osama, too, is dead. In these United States some celebrate a victory long sought, an objective long elusive: To find and bring this man to trial,…
Prayers of the People
God of Resurrection, we give thanks for time away to reflect, for people of faith who challenge and inspire us, for the growing sense of community among us, for the neighbors you call us to love. God of New Life, we pray for those from our community who are preparing to travel and for the loved ones they will leave behind. May we pause to reflect and to be still amidst the news of the killing of Osama bin Laden.…

We are thrilled to create worship around this experience on Sunday morning at The Table. Take a few minutes to walk in your neighborhood today. Who are your neighbors? Something of your salvation is rooted in their being. What might it look like for you to reach in love…

We’re off this afternoon to the Inhabit Conference in Seattle, WA. Thrilled to learn from creative faith communities throughout the West Coast for a few days. Practice Resurrection
Wendell Berry writes, So, friends, every day do something that won’t compute. Love the Lord. Love the world. Work for nothing. Take all that you have and be poor. Love someone who does not deserve it… As soon as the generals and the politicos can predict the motions of your mind, lose it. Leave it as a sign to mark the false trail, the way you didn’t go… Practice resurrection. How will you practice resurrection today? What will resurrection look…
Toward Sunday
Ten of us from The Table will be traveling to Seattle this week for the Inhabit Conference. Worship this Sunday will be rooted in our experience together. The conference website states: There is a tectonic shift happening under the surface of the church in North America. Parishioners are returning to the parish. The greater our individual mobility extends, the greater the world’s longing and need for a faith that can be lived out collectively – where we can be present……

Maundy Thursday
Many of us will be traveling to Oakland this afternoon. We’ll gather for a simple meal in the evening in remembrance of Maundy Thursday. We’ll then experience Mumford & Sons live outdoors.
