Refining fire.

NYC 12-08-27

I have spent a great deal of time thinking about fire and living into the question of whether or not fire is a beginning or ending.  One way of reflecting on our text from Malachi for Sunday is to think of fire as the end of times for folks who have not chosen to repent and believe in God.  Another way might be to consider it the beginning of a whole new way of being for ourselves and our community.  The possibilities are ambiguous.  In order to stand in the ambiguity of faith I have found it imperative to be in community so that I can share my questions and wonderings with others.

What do you wonder about God as you wait for her to be born in you this season?

What fire might you need to “stand” or  live through that will make you new or burn away that which is already dead in you?

With whom might you share this question today?
