Seeing the word

IMG_3637

“We are accustomed to hearing words, and often we call on others to listen with us; but in dramatic fashion the prophet Isaiah speaks of “seeing the word.”  (Isaiah 2.1)  Seeing the word, a new idea for many of us, points to a new level of discernment.  There is “a seeing beyond seeing,” learning to see reality at its depth, as we learn that “there is often more there than meets the eye.”…God’s servants are expected to wait for God to real the word concerning their situation of faith.  God shares the word with God’s people, and they not only listen to the word, but also “behold the word.” (from Feasting on the Word , year A, Vol 1 p.2)

Above is an example of how we are “seeing the word” of God in worship at The Table.  We pause for prayer before a tray of words and wait.  Wait for God to speak to us the word(s) we would pray on The Advent Way.  Consider trying this for yourself.  Look around you.  The words on the screen, the words in your workplace, the words in your book or your bible or your newsfeed and tweets.  What might God be call you to “see beyond seeing”?  What is underneath the words?    Give thanks for the words that God has given you this day and consider sharing this with someone close to you.
