Toward Sunday

We continue our worship series, The Art & Resurrection of Justice, this week with focus on listening to the voice of the voiceless.

Outline for The Art & Resurrection of Justice

Here is a video featuring Micah Bournes promoting the Justice Conference last February.

As Micah Bournes reminds us, “there is no such thing as a voiceless person, only a world that must learn to listen.”  Who are some of the people or communities you believe our world needs to learn to listen to?

Take a few minutes to read John 10.1-10.

Brian P. Stoffregen writes, “The irony is that as Jesus’ sheep we are to hear and recognize and follow his voice, but that voice speaks in figures of speech that we may not fully understand. If this is true, then perhaps the voice of the stranger (or thief or bandit) speaks in words that are clear and easily understood and not the ambiguity of parables or metaphors or paradoxes or other figures of speech that Jesus uses.”

Consider for a moment how you hear the voice of the stranger or thief or bandit in your own life.  These voices are often clear and easily understood.  Perhaps these voices lure you to do harm.  What clear voices are leading you away from staying in love with God and doing all the good you can?

When have you heard the voice of Jesus recently?  Where has this voice called you? How ambiguous is the message for you right now? Justice Promo FB
