We’re so grateful for all of the people in our church community who reached in love yesterday to help make our three Easter worship gatherings possible. Over 400 people joined us at The Table in celebration of Easter and we’re so thankful for a beautiful and inspiring Holy Week!
We’ll begin a new worship series this week called Tasting Resurrection. This six-week worship series will weave the Gospel of John with lessons from a Netflix series called Chef’s Table. Each week will focus on a story from John and a chef featured in the first season of Chef’s Table. Here’s a brief video about the worship series.
Outline for Tasting Resurrection
• April 3: John 20.19-31 & Massimo Bottura
•April 10: John 21.1-19 & Dan Barber
•April 17: John 10.22-30 & Francis Mallmann
•April 24: John 13.31-35 & Niki Nakayama
•May 1: John 14.23-29 & Ben Shewry
•May 8: John 17.20-26 & Magnus Nilsson
Massimo Bottura is the first chef featured on Chef’s Table. His three-Michelin-star restaurant, Osteria Francescana, is located in a small town in Italy. Massimo’s innovate food is rooted in traditional Italian dishes. When he first came on the culinary scene, many people doubted his food could possibly work. Massimo learned from numerous failings and has gone on to become one of the most important chefs in our day.
Think of a time when others have doubted you or when you have doubted yourself. What allowed you to overcome the doubts? Share about the experience with someone this week.
Read John 20.19-31.
Thomas weaves faith with doubt as he encounters the Risen One on this side of Resurrection. The Risen One invites Thomas to touch his wounds, thus reminding us that the glory of resurrection also carries with it scars. Massimo carries the wounds of early failures into dishes that delight in his little restaurant. Why, if at all, does it matter to you, that the Risen One carries scares on this side of resurrection?
We encourage you to join us in worship this Sunday as we begin this new worship series.
