Power Is Not Given, It Is Taken
Rev. Rhina Ramos’s message holds her own migration story in conversation with Exodus 5.1-8.
Sabbath
Matt’s message this Labor Day weekend invites reflection on how we might be called to renew our commitments to keeping a weekly day of Sabbath.
Bread from Heaven
Jesus says, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes into me will never be thirsty” (John 6.35). Linda’s message invites reflection on the ways John 6.35, 41-51 is rooted in Exodus 16 and challenges us to wonder about the ways God might be sending us bread from heaven today.
Program
Chris’s message reflects on ten commandments (Exodus 20. 1-17) as God’s program for the people of God as they came out of enslavement in Egypt.
Radical Ritual
Over sixty thousand people gathered this week for Burning Man to celebrate Radical Ritual. As thousands searched for purpose & meaning on the playa, we gathered in worship at The Table to reflect on the depth & beauty of our ancient tradition’s radical rituals. Pastor Matt invites reflection on the radical roots of Holy Communion. Pastor Linda reminds us of the healing waters of Baptism. Pastor Chris challenges us to receive God’s anointing for our work in the world.
Fasting & Abstinence
Matt’s message invites reflection on how we might interrupt cycles of violence through creative acts of fasting and abstinence. How might this way of staying in love with God empower us to respond to the massacre of LGBTQ people in Orlando and the celebration of this violence by a pastor here in Sacramento. The message is rooted in Exodus 16.
Artisan Soul
Linda’s message is rooted in the story of Moses from Exodus 2.1-15. This is the first week in a four-week series based on The Artisan Soul: Crafting Your Life into a Work of Art by Erwin McManus.
Remember the Sabbath Day
Linda’s message is rooted in Exodus 20.1-8 and is the second of a three-week series on Sabbath as Resistance. What might we learn from the command God makes upon God’s people to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy?
A Journeying People
We begin our journey with one of the earliest examples of worship in the Bible. The Israelite people celebrate their escape from Egypt and Miriam steps forward to “give Praise to God” by singing, dancing, drumming & shouting. Worship began outdoors with singing and Scripture. We moved into the Sanctuary and Linda’s message invites reflection on the beginnings of worship.
