Flipped
Our “Abstracting August” series will hold readings assigned to the global Christian church, alongside abstract art and a communal abstract art project led by our artist in residence Erik Castellanos. Worship is rooted in Luke 14:1, 7-14 and Jesus’ reminder to live out of our confidence in God’s law of love as we take risks to welcome all to God’s table.Worship online with thetable.live. Spirit
Worship this morning invited the Spirit to guide us in responding to the strengthening of restrictions on LGBTQIA people at this week’s legislative gathering of the United Methodist Church in St. Louis and the District Attorney’s decision regarding the killing of Stephon Clark. Paul writes, “Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart” (2 Corinthians 4.1). What bold faith might the Spirit be stirring in us?
The Table Turns 5
We celebrated The Table turning 5 in worship this morning. Our gathering was rooted in Mark 9.30-37. This is the second week in a three-week series called Our Vintage Church.
All Means All
Our worship series, This Christian Life, is based on the format of story telling curated by Ira Glass on This American Life. Our stories this morning invite reflection on what it means to be a community that says, “All Means All.” We begin with the story of the gift of the Holy Spirit being poured out on “outsiders” in Acts 10.44-48. Act 2 is an original composition by Joe Kye called 11-8.
