Easter Sunday

Pastor Linda’s Easter message holds the resurrection story from the Gospel of Mark in conversation with Resurrecting Easter by John Dominic & Sarah Crossan. What might ancient images of resurrection from Eastern churches have to teach us in the West about resurrection?

Wilderness

Linda’s message is rooted in the story of Jesus being driven into the wilderness for 40 days (Mark 1.9-15). Wilderness is a place & season of disorientation, loss, & pain. How might God be calling us all into a season of wilderness this Lent?

Becoming Evangelical

Linda’s message reflects on her journey toward embracing what it means to be evangelical. From an initial encounter with a televangelist to heart-felt conversations with faithful evangelical people in our community, she wonders who God is calling her to empathize with for the sake of the Gospel. Linda’s message is rooted in 1 Corinthians 9.16-23. Paul writes, “I have become all things to all people, so that I might by any means save some. I do it all for the…

Time’s Up

Linda’s message is rooted in Mark 1.29-39 and invites reflection on moving beyond shame. How might Jesus be raising us up from shame? Here is a link to the statement by Bishop Bruce Ough on behalf of the Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church.

Falling and Rising

Worship on this first Sunday in the season of Christmas is rooted in Luke 2.22-40. Matt & Linda invite reflection on the blessing of the infant Jesus by Simeon & Anna. How might God be calling us into a life of falling and rising?

Things Are Not Okay

In the midst of our hopes & fears, we welcome God’s coming again this Advent season. Linda’s message invites reflection on Isaiah 64 & Mark 13.24-37.

PG-13?

Biblical scholar Phyllis Trible writes,  “One female has chosen another female in a world where life depends upon men. There is no more radical decision in all the memories of Israel.” Linda’s message on Chapter 3 of Ruth invites reflection on the layers of meaning and the sexual innuendos deployed by the authors of this often neglected chapter from the Hebrew bible. How might God be calling us to risk in our daily lives?

Baptism

We gathered in worship this morning to celebrate the baptism of 19 children & adults at The Table, to renew our baptismal vows, and to share our Deep Commitments. Worship was rooted in Matthew 22.34-40 and Linda’s message invites reflection on Jesus’ call to love God and neighbor.

Tending Soil

Linda’s message is rooted in Philippians 3.4b-14.  What seeds might God be planting within you that need your tending in order to grow? What’s holding you back from taking your next step of growing in faith?
